There are a lot of good ideas in this thread and a lot of possible solutions to the bookmark lag issue. I honestly think the best solution proposed is the one put forward by CCP, although, as the OP and many others have noted, it does create other problems. On the positive side: it will drastically reduce the lag created from BMs and it evens the playing field tactically for newer players. On the negative side though, it also reduces the opportunity for PvP in the game (honourable and dishonourable) and creates the issue with criminals retreating to safety automatically with insta-docking. That problem still needs to be addressed, but not in the form of rejecting a 'warp to 0' approach at stations.
I'm surprised that no one else has noted in this thread (although, some posters have hinted at it), but the difference between insta-warping to a gate and insta-warping to a station isn't that there's not 'another side' to the gate at a station, its that the 'other side' isn't automatic. Its UNDOCKING. In a way, camping a station exit is far easier than camping a gate (and I'm speaking about low sec here where warp bubbles do not come into play). You always know where you opponent will undock, unlike gate camping where an enemy can uncloak out of the reach of your gang and warp off. Granted, station camping is the most boring activity in EVE and in the current system when your target undocks they may not even still be criminally flagged.
So the problem with the system now which is still not addressed in the new system isn't that 'warping to 0' at stations is bad, its the fact that globally flagged criminals can dock at all! Stations should not allow flagged criminals to dock. Period. If still allowed to dock, the very least that should happen is that criminal timers stop when docked. That way when the criminal undocks, be it in 15 minutes or 2 days, at least (and I do mean least) they are still a criminal. Like the OP and other anti-pirates that have posted, I would still like to see the criminal serve his 15 minutes of fear in space. I think the 'no flagged criminals docking' mechanic would do this without still creating an unfair system between the haves and have-nots (I'm talking docking instas, of course) but still keeping a degree of skill in the hunting for criminals/hiding from policers dynamic that most people like about the current system.
